Record-Breaking CE Week Concludes in New York City

Largest CE Week features sold-out show floor, major product launches, educational sessions and a variety of impactful networking events

New York, NY – June 28, 2013 – CE Week 2013, the consumer electronics and technology industry’s annual mid-year event, concluded today after featuring its most successful array of programs and events in its multi-year history and hosting its largest amount of attendees to date.

The event, which included more than 160 exhibitors, featured a weeklong series of technology events across the city, including the CE Week Line Shows and Exhibits, CE Week Line Shows Conference, New York’s Next Top Maker’s Pitch Night, FashionWare Runway Show, Mobile Apps Showdown and more. The conference sessions, networking events, press conferences and product launches drew thousands of media and CE industry professionals from across the nation.

“This record-breaking CE Week certainly brought to life our vision for bringing the best of the industry’s innovations and experts to New York for a mid-year ‘reality check’ on what’s happening in the technology industry,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). “The extensive range of events, announcements, networking opportunities and product launches was amazing and sets a great pace for the CE industry for the remainder of 2013.”

The CEA Research Summit kicked off CE Week on June 25 with a full day of informative research sessions and timely intelligence on the industry’s most important market trends ranging from the State of the CE Industry to the Next Big Thing in TV to Next Business Models of Retailing.

The CE Week Line Shows and Exhibits, CE Week’s official show headquarters on June 26 – 27, featured more than 160 major brands, innovators and startups, becoming the east coast’s largest assortment of new CE product introductions on a single exhibition floor.

The CE Week Line Shows Conference began with a 1:1 Executive Q&A with CEA’s Gary Shapiro and Chet Kanojia, CEO and founder of Aereo. The two had in-depth conversation about how technology innovation drives Aereo’s business strategy.

Living in Digital Times displayed the best and brightest in mobile app technology on the Wall of Apps and the Mobile Apps Showdown. eMeals, an app that makes meal planning easier, healthier and cost effective while answering the age old question, “What’s for dinner?,” was named the winner of the online vote. MyCheck, an app that allows users to skip the paper check and pay with their mobile devices, won the popular vote, determined by audience applause.

Jeff O'Heir, Editor in Chief of Dealerscope presented Epson with the Best in Show Overall Excellence Award on Wednesday evening for their PowerLite® Pro Cinema 6020UB 3D/2D Projector. The 3D/2D projector was selected amongst hundreds of products for its unique product design, quality build, exceptional user experience, practical and sensible features, and the Epson’s support of the consumer electronics retail channel.

Smart fabrics, embedded sensors, AR glasses, stylish headsets, wearable technology and envy-evoking tablets and phones were all part of the action at the FashionWare Live Runway Show on Wednesday evening, sizzling with models, music and lights.

MyBell, a customizable electronic bicycle bell that emits any sounds the users want, won New York’s Next Top Makers Pitch Night, produced by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). As part of its prize, MyBell wins the opportunity to exhibit at Eureka Park at the 2014 International CES, the world’s leading innovation event, to be held January 7-10 in Las Vegas.

Organized by NYCEDC, Ayah Bdeir, Founder and CEO of littleBits, which offers an open source library for modular electronics, gave a Thursday morning keynote and talked about Making in NYC.

The editors of Technology Integrator Magazine voted Innovation Zone exhibitor PairAsight, the Technovation Award winner yesterday, beating out other the three other finalists, Beddit, MythLab and Sookbox. PairAsight is an eyewear device that allows its users to capture video and live stream from a first person point-of-view, thus enabling them to share their experiences with the world in real-time.
