photokina grants insights into the “imaging phenomenon” smartphone

According to estimates, around 30 million smartphones will be sold in Germany alone in 2014, worldwide the figure will be over one billion appliances. The photokina – the world’s leading trade fair of the photography and imaging industry – has been accompanying this trends towards the new “always available cameras” for years and will be highlighting the theme in detail at the fair. This year the photokina organisers – Koelnesse and the Photographic Industry Association – are further expanding this commitment. In cooperation with the company Suite 48 Analytics that specialises in research and opinion polls in the mobile photorgraphy sector, in 2014 the photokina will be offering interested visitors a series of lectures, workshops and seminars, which will deal closely with the “smartphone phenomenon” from a wide range of perspectives. The offer encompasses the presentation of the most important top developments on the smartphone market, offers an overview of the most interesting photo apps and provides prospective app developers with value tips.

The prelude is a “Mobile Photography News Announcements Round-up” on the second day of the fair (17.09), where the latest innovations and trends from the smartphone market are presented. A first-class circle of international trade journalists, analysts and suppliers will appraise the latest products and will assess their possible influence on the industry.

Which of the more than 45,000 photography apps you should know about, which ones you must have and how best to use them – that is the theme of the lectures on our photokina communities stage. Mobile imaging experts will show interested photokina visitors their tricks and will reveal which apps they would no longer want to do without. The presentations entitled “The integration of smartphone photography into the life of a professional photographer” on the stage of the photokina professionals address professional users. All lectures and discussion rounds are free of charge for the trade fair visitors.

The workshop “I want to develop a photo app – what’s the next step?”, which is subject to a participation fee, addresses prospective app developers. During the three-hour workshop famous app developers will discuss among other things the do’s and don’ts when selecting the right development platform, the right tools, practical business models and important marketing strategies. The participation fee is EUR 49.

Suite48 Analytics specialises in research and opinion polls in the area of mobile photography and organises the Mobile Photo Connect Conference, which takes place annually in San Francisco.
