Imaging Summit 2013: Conference highlights global trends in the photo industry

Nuremberg, 1 October 2013 – What does the future hold for the photographic industry worldwide? International experts will be discussing this question at the Imaging Summit 2013, which is taking place in Nuremberg on 2-3 December. Under the motto “Imaging is advanced communications”, conference visitors will not only gain scientific and commercial insights into the world of photography, but also enjoy a touch of humor.

Successfully mastering the future together will be theme of podium debate between leading representatives from industry and retail on 2 December as they discuss future concepts that can benefit both sides.

“Imaging is advanced communications”. This year's Imaging Summit motto will be elucidated at the conference on 3 December: photography is one of the most modern, effective and strongly networked fields in communications. All lectures will also tackle the challenge of the future, from literary forward and lateral thinking and the gulf between the crisis and market success in the photography industry to wholly futuristic visions. A range of talks and wide-ranging expertise await visitors at the Imaging Summit 2013. Speakers include “future guru” Dr. Bernd Flessner, bestselling author Anja Förster, Andreas Lippert from eBay the world's largest online auction website and more.

GfK experts will also be presenting 2013 global trends and world market data relating to both traditional photography and mobile phone photography, which is currently booming. The interdependence of the old and new worlds of photography will be explored in relation to product and range development, success and also the changing distribution structure.

Imaging Summit 2013

The Imaging Summit 2013 is a collaborative event between GfK and photokina organizers Koelnmesse and The Imaging Association (Photoindustrie-Verband). Since 1983, representatives from industry and retail have been meeting every two years to discover and exchange information on international data and trends in the imaging segment. The Imaging Summit 2013 will take place on 2-3 December at the Museum für Kommunikation (Communication Museum) in Nuremberg.
