Virtual Reality Day Unveils Global Slate of Events in 62 Cities Across Five Continents

Second Annual Event to Include Giveaways from MergeVR, HTC, Vuze and More
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 06, 2018

It’s about to be easier than ever to jump into virtual reality. On Saturday November 17th, 2018, Virtual Reality Day kicks off its second annual celebration of all things VR and AR. After a successful 2017, this year’s event will be even bigger, with 62 cities (and counting) providing opportunities for anyone to get involved in the VR/AR trend.

All of Virtual Reality Day’s events are free, open to the public, and organized entirely by individuals or organizations as a grassroots effort, with a goal to help VR and AR become more mainstream. Events will include product showcases, demos of the latest experiences and apps, and tutorials on how to get started with VR and AR.

“Virtual Reality Day is all about bringing the energy and interests of the greater community together and focusing that energy for the benefit of everyone on one special day,” explained Robert Fine, creator of Virtual Reality Day and also a publisher, journalist, podcaster and producer of numerous other VR and AR events. “I encourage everyone to spread the world and get involved!”

A full list of events, along with links to sign up for events in each city, can be found here: https://virtualrealityday.org/partners/

Other highlights include:

  • Virtual Reality Day is also partnering with AltspaceVR and High Fidelity to produce a 24 hour in VR conference that includes a roster of rotating hosts and speakers during the 24 hours of Virtual Reality Day.
  • Individuals that own a VR headset and unable to attend an event in-person are encouraged to participate in the #VR121 initiative. An effort to encourage owners of VR hardware to give just one person (friend, co-worker, family member, etc.) their first VR experience on Virtual Reality Day.

About Virtual Reality Day

Virtual Reality Day started as a simple effort to get both enthusiasts and the industry to focus their efforts together for one day every year in order to educate the public about VR/AR technologies. Slated to fall on the last Saturday before Black Friday in the United States, last year’s first event garnered 8 participating cities. The forthcoming second annual event has greatly eclipsed that effort with 62 participating cities and counting.
